# Connect a tool without giving away the keys

Original 5HO practice material. Fictional example. Reviewed 5 October 2026.

## Useful result

You'll finish with a reviewed connection, a retrieval test and a plan for disconnecting it.

Connect one tool for one useful job. You can add more later if you need them. Today’s win is finding a known source and proving you can disconnect again.

## Set up

Allow 20–30 minutes plus administrator approval if needed. Use your assistant’s official app or connector settings and a test account or approved practice folder. Availability varies by plan, region and workspace policy.

## Practice input

Practice source: a document called Workshop Connection Test containing the sentence Room B seats twelve. Task: find that document and report its one fact, with a source link.

## Do the task

1. Open the assistant’s app directory, choose the official provider and inspect the requested permissions before authorising.
2. Search for the exact practice document and verify the result by opening it.
3. Review the connection settings and learn how to revoke access; record any permission broader than the task needs.

## Prompt

Use the connected document tool to find Workshop Connection Test. Quote its room-capacity sentence and link to the document. Do not search unrelated folders or change any files.

## Refine

If the document is missing, check account and access scope first. Do not invent a result or treat pasted text as proof the connector works.

## Expected checks

The answer should match twelve seats and point to the correct document. A read-only instruction cannot reduce an OAuth permission grant; stop if the grant is unacceptable for your account.

## Save

Save the provider name, permitted scope and test result. Remove the test connection if you no longer need it.
